GLWACH PCC Pharmacy

The General Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital’s Primary Care Clinic Pharmacy, formerly known as the Main Outpatient Pharmacy, is streamlining its service.

The PCC Pharmacy, located in the new north wing of the hospital, been outfitted with all new ScriptPro automation and technology. This technology helps the pharmacy staff fill prescriptions more safely and efficiently.

While standing at the window, patrons may be able to catch a glimpse of the ScriptPro robots in action as they fill and label prescriptions.

ScriptPro’s barcode scanning technology provides verification at each step along the way and enables the prescription to be tracked throughout the entire process. The system’s comprehensive database of drug records and images gives pharmacists the tools to ensure each prescription is filled correctly.

The barcode scanning, pill markings and drug images used throughout the filling and verification process help prevent errors from occurring while filling prescriptions. Once a patient’s prescriptions have been processed and sent to the ScriptPro robot, they are filled in order of receipt and collated by patient name to ensure accuracy.
Beginning June 18, patrons will be called up to a window only once, and receive their prescriptions without having to sit back down and wait to be called up again to a second window. Please note that after June 18, self-care and over-the-counter items will only be available at the PCC Pharmacy, not at the PX Pharmacy.

The PCC Pharmacy now has eight windows open for faster service.

Other improvements to the GLWACH pharmacy include closer parking, more parking spaces for handicapped patrons, and automatic doors at all entrances. It is wheelchair accessible, and wheelchairs are available at the entrance of the PCC clinic.

Here are some commonly asked questions about the pharmacy and prescription refills:

Is the PX Pharmacy the only place to pick up refills?

No. When calling in a refill, patients have the option to have their refills made available for pick-up at either the PX pharmacy or the PCC Pharmacy in the hospital.

When will refills be ready for pick-up at the PX Pharmacy and PCC Pharmacy?

At the PX Pharmacy, refills will be ready 24 hours from the time you  call to the refill line. At the PCC Pharmacy, refills will be ready 48 hours from the time you call to the refill line. Please listen to the entire recording, which will tell you when your refills will be ready for pick-up. Special order medications may require a longer fill time.

Will my doctor be able to fax prescriptions to the PCC Pharmacy?

Yes. Your health care provider can fax prescriptions to 573-596-0405.

Will the PCC Pharmacy accept hard-copy prescriptions?

Yes. Hard-copy, off-post prescriptions, faxed prescriptions, as well as electronic prescriptions from providers at GLWACH will be accepted.

What are the hours of the PX and PCC pharmacies?

The PX Pharmacy is open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The PCC Pharmacy is open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 7 a.m. to 7p.m., Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., closing from noon to 1 p.m. for lunch.

Both pharmacies are closed Sundays and all Federal Holidays.

How do I know if I have a refill  or a renewal prescription?

A refill prescription is a medication that you are already taking. In order for that prescription to be filled again, the patient must call the refill phone line (596.0128 or 800.245.1953), or complete the online request form at http://glwach.amedd.army.mil/patient_care/pharmacy/pharmacy_home.htm.

A renewal prescription is usually for the same medication, but there are no refills remaining and your doctor must rewrite the prescription. Remember, a faxed prescription is not a refill prescription — only those that are called in or requested online.

What if my doctor on post enters the prescription into the computer?

When your doctor at the hospital or at Ozark Family Medical Home enters a prescription into the pharmacy computer system it can be either a new prescription or a renewal prescription. Call-in prescriptions are not accepted at the PCC Pharmacy.
