Maneuver Support Center of Excellence Special to GUIDON
Two hundred and thirty-seven years ago, on June 14, 1775, our nation’s leaders established the Continental Army, beginning our Army’s rich heritage of meeting the needs of our nation and defending its citizens. ![]() Courtesy photo Today, America’s Army is engaged in nearly 150 countries around the world, with over 93,000 Soldiers deployed and 95,000 forward stationed. We have the best equipped, best trained, and best led Army in history, and it is because of the 1.1 million professional Soldiers who serve in the Army, Army Reserve, and Army National Guard who still carry the same patriotism and devotion of the Soldiers of the Continental Army. On June 14, at thousands of locations around the globe, the Army and its supporters will celebrate the continued honor, loyalty and bravery of our Soldiers in this noble calling. Our Soldiers remain strong with a deep commitment to our core values. On our 237th Birthday, we will commemorate America’s Army — Soldiers, Families and civilians — who are achieving excellence. And, we will celebrate our local communities for their steadfast support of our Soldiers and families. All Fort Leonard Wood community members are invited to attend the post’s Army Birthday events on June 14. Military members will gather on Gammon Field at 6:15 a.m. for reveille and a division-style run. Civilian leaders are invited to purchase tickets from their units for a luncheon at the Pershing Community Center at 11:30 a.m. At 4:30 p.m., a special retreat ceremony is scheduled at the Maneuver Support Center of Excellence plaza, which everyone is invited to attend. Every military, civilian, Family member, or community supporter plays a key role in our Army’s mission. Thank you for your service and we hope to see you on June 14. Army Strong! |
