| Rolla Parks and Rec offers new tennis, softball, volleyball programs |

The Rolla Parks and Recreation Department is offering new tennis, softball and volleyball programs, with several leagues starting in July. Most events take place at the Ber Juan Park, which includes a softball complex, tennis courts and the Centre, Rolla’s recreation center with multipurpose courts and indoor and outdoor pool facilities. Upcoming events include: — Tennis After Dark is offered every Friday night in July at the Ber Juan Tennis Complex. Tennis pros give instructions on basic tennis skills for players wanting to learn the game. Cost is $10 per session or $20 for all three sessions. — Youth Tennis Lessons are scheduled July 9-13 for children ages 5-6 (8:30 to 9:15 a.m.), 7-8 (9:30 to 10:15 a.m.) and 9-10 (10:30 to 11:30 a.m.). Cost is $40 per child with a $5 discount for Centre members. — Cardio Tennis combines the best features of tennis with a cardiovascular workout from 8 to 9 a.m. Monday and Wednesday mornings starting this month. Cost is $40 per month. — The Men’s Mini Softball League is scheduled Tuesday nights from 6 to 10 p.m. starting July 24 and ending Aug. 14. Only the first eight teams will be taken for this four-week doubleheader league. Cost is $200 per team for eight games. The deadline to register is July 16. — Volleyball: Rolla’s adult co-ed volleyball season won’t begin until September, but registration is already under way. Leagues include the Competitive B teams that play on Sunday nights; Recreational A & B teams that play Tuesday nights, and the Women’s League that plays on Monday nights. Competitive leagues run for six weeks, plus a tournament. The recreational leagues run for eight weeks. Fees for volleyball are $195 per team, with a $5 discount for Centre members. Registration deadline is Sept. 5. A team entry form must be completed and payment made at registration.
