Waynesville High School fall sports start Aug. 6, while Waynesville Middle School will start practices Aug. 16.

Earlier this week, the R-VI Athletic Department released practice schedules for varsity, junior varsity and ninth-grade football, softball, cross country, boys’ soccer, girls’ tennis, girls’ golf and volleyball.

— Football practices for grades 9 through 12 are scheduled from 6:30 to 8:30 a.m., with a walk-through evening session from 7 to 8 p.m. from Aug. 6-10 and Aug. 13-15 at Slaughter Field.

Team pictures are scheduled for 3 p.m. Aug. 16, with the annual Meet The Tigers pep rally at 5 p.m. The annual Football Jamboree is scheduled for 6 p.m. Aug. 17. Both events are also at Slaughter Field.

— Volleyball practices for students in grades 9 through 12 are scheduled from 8 to 11 a.m. Aug. 6-10 and from 3:30 to 6 p.m. Aug. 13-17. All practices are at Waynesville High School.

— Cross country practices for runners in grades 9 through 12 on both the boys and girls teams is scheduled from 6:30 to 8:30 a.m. Aug. 6-10 and Aug. 13-17 at the old Waynesville Middle School, located downtown behind the post office.

Girls’ tennis practice for players in grades 9 through 12 is scheduled from 8 to 10 a.m. Aug. 6-10 and Aug. 13-17 at WHS.

Girls’ golf practice for grades 9 through 12 will be held from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Aug. 6 and Aug. 10, and from 5 to 7 p.m. Aug. 7-9 at Piney Valley Golf Course.

Softball practice is scheduled from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Aug. 6-8, Aug. 13 and Aug. 17 and from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Aug. 14-16 at WHS.

Boys soccer practice is scheduled from 3 to 5 p.m. Aug. 6-10 and Aug. 13-17 at the Grass Soccer Complex.



Middle school practices

Practices for students in grades 7 and 8 are scheduled as follows:

Boys and girls’ cross country practice will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Aug. 16-17 and Aug. 20-21 at the middle school.

Football practice will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Aug. 16-17 and Aug. 20-21 at Waynesville Middle School.

Volleyball practice is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. Aug. 16-17 and Aug. 20-21 at the middle school.
