Fort Leonard Wood’s intramural softball season is over, and the Directorate of Public Works, the Engineer Equipment Instruction Company and Company B, 554th Engineer Battalion, finished at the top of the standings in Conferences A, B and C, respectively. DPW handily won Conference A with a perfect 11-0 season record, including a 17-10 win over Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 14th Military Police Brigade on the final night of competition Aug. 27. ![]() Brock Lercher, DPW, hits a single in a Conference A game earlier this year. File photo In Conference B, EEIC also finished with a perfect record — 10-0 — including an 11-5 win over the 3rd Battalion, 10th Infantry Regiment and a 14-4 victory over the 31st Engineer Battalion on Aug. 28. Also on Aug. 28: — The 515th Engineer Company defeated the Engineer Captains Career Course, 11-0; — The 31st Engr. Bn. defeated the ECCC, 13-1; — The Military Police Instruction Company, 35th Engineer Battalion, MPIC and 554th Engineer Battalion all picked up forfeit wins. In Conference B games Aug. 30: — The 515th Engr. Co. beat the 787th Military Police Battalion, 15-10; — The 787th MPs beat the 554th Engineers, 16-12; — The MPIC defeated the 515th Engr. Co., 5-4. MPIC finished as the Conference B runners up, and the 515th Engr. Co. was third. In Conference C, the Company B, 554th Engineers ended the season at 9-2, tied with Staff Judge Advocate. However, Co. B, 554th Engr. Bn. won the conference, having defeated SJA in the teams’ only head-to-head matchup of the season on July 11. Co. B, 554th Engr. Bn. won their last game of the season, defeating the 80th Training Center, 10-4, on the final night of Conference C action on Aug. 29. Also on Aug. 29: — The 364th Training Squadron, Air Force Detachment 1, beat the Dental Activity, 12-1; — The 763rd Ordnance Company defeated Balfour Beatty, 12-9; — The 399th Army Band beat the Army and Air Force Exchange Service, 15-8; — DENTAC defeated the Engineer K9 Company, 8-3; — The Navy Detachment defeated SJA, 9-8; — The Engr. K9 Co., which finished third in the Conference, also picked up a forfeit win. With the season over, military unit teams turned their attention to the Commander’s Cup Tournament, which was scheduled to start Wednesday and conclude Monday night. |
