Fort Leonard Wood’s Retiree Appreciation Days are set for this weekend.

The events are to honor retirees a whohave served our country and their spouses. An estimated 600 people are expected to participate.

“Retiree Appreciation Days keeps retired Soldiers and their Families up-to-date on changes in their retirement rights, benefits and privileges and fosters good will between the retired and active-duty communities,” said Noah Stevens Jr., Retirement Services officer. “(Retirees) are a vital part of our military Family and their experiences and expertise counts.”

Stevens said the health screenings provided by the General Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital are some of the more informational events.

“It’s free, and excellent information will be provided in reference to Tricare by our guest speaker Kathy Lucero, United Healthcare,” Stevens said.

He said the most popular event is the door prize giveaway.

Some of the events cost to participate. The golf tournament will cost $45 for Piney Valley Golf Course non-members and $40 for members, the retiree dinner on will cost $21 for each person and you must pay in advance, lunch on Saturday will cost $4.60 for each person at the door.

The breakfast hosted by the American Legion is free for retirees and their spouses.

To participate in the dinner at the Pershing Community Center, you must register ahead of time.

“We will be registering all retirees at both Abrams Theater and Nutter field

House to collect email addresses,” Stevens said.

Stevens said due to budgetary constraints, future correspondence will be provided electronically, via email and website. Therefore, he requests that retirees provide their email address to the Retirement Services Office.
