Special to GUIDON

Fall is a beautiful time of year here in the heart of America. Fall sports, local community events, and the turning of the colors make autumn a favorite season for many people.

We hope you are enjoying this special time of year with Family and friends and are able to take part in the many outdoor activities Missouri has to offer.

While you enjoy this beautiful time of year, we encourage you to do so safely.

As we celebrate the Columbus Day holiday on Monday, remember the key things you have been taught about safety.

This includes implementing the battle buddy system, wearing all protective gear on motorcycles and off-road vehicles, having designated drivers if you choose to drink, wearing seatbelts when in motor vehicles, maintaining vigilance, maintaining situational awareness and taking care of one another.

Leaders, we expect you to live the standards for safety to be engaged by knowing your people and their plans for the holiday weekend.

Every member of our team is critical to our success in training the engineer, chemical and military police Soldiers who support our Army’s missions around the world.

We want everyone to come back to duty safely.

Practice safety in everything you do.

We are proud to serve with you.

Army Strong.

(Editor’s note: Savre is the Maneuver Support Center of Excellence and Fort Leonard Wood commanding general. Ward is the MSCoE and Fort Leonard Wood command sergeant major.)
