S&T bands, 399th Army Band to perform in Rolla Print E-mail

The 399th Army Band will join the Missouri University of Science and Technology Symphonic Band and Wind Symphony for a free concert at 2 p.m. Feb. 26 in Leach Theatre of Castleman Hall, located at 10th and Main streets in Rolla.

Tickets are free, but are required for the event, and can be ordered through the Leach Theater Box Office at 573.341.4219, or purchased at the door. The box office is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.

The S&T Symphonic Band will begin the concert by performing “Hail to the Spirit of Liberty March” by John Philip Sousa, “Mountain Thyme” by Samuel R. Hazo, and “Seven Hills Overture” by John Fannin. The Symphonic Band will be joined onstage by members of the 399th Army Band.

The Wind Symphony will then take the stage to perform “Fairest of the Fair March” by John Philip Sousa, “Air” from “Air and Dance” by W. Francis McBeth, and “Adirondack Festival Overture” by Stephen Bulla.

ImageFollowing the intermission, the 399th Army Band will take the stage to perform “American Salute” by Morton Gould, Movement 1 of “Concerto for Tuba and Band” by Eric Ewazen with Sgt. 1st Class Jim Cipriano as the featured soloist. Staff Sgt. Mark McMurray will be the featured vocalist on Alfred Reed’s “The Pledge of Allegiance.” The band will finish the concert with renditions of Carmen Dragon’s “America the Beautiful” and “Armed Forces Medley.”
