The Fort Wood Community and Spouses’ Club will host their annual basket auction March 3.

Jennifer Cagle, basket auction chair, said the event helps provide scholarships for military dependents and grants to non-profit community organizations.

“A lot of hard work has been put in to make sure everyone is provided with a fun evening for friends and Families of Fort Leonard Wood and the surrounding communities. (We hope) to give everyone the chance to take home a fabulous basket or item.” Cagle said.

This year, the theme is Great Gatsby Night. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. with a social hour from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.  The silent auction, wine pull, and vault will be open during the social hour, and the live auction will begin at 6:30 p.m.

“This is a great opportunity to promote your business and products and to give back to the community,” Cagle said

The auction is one of the largest events held by the spouses’ club each year and is open to the general public.

“There is always a wide range and variety of baskets that will be auctioned off, with items that will fit every budget.” Cagle said.

In addition, live entertainment from the Morton Sisters will be provided during the social hour.

The Fort Wood Community Spouses’ Club is always seeking members and those willing to volunteer.

Luncheons are held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. every third Thursday at Perishing Community Center. Participants may sign up online or pay the $12 fee at the door.

For those who would like to contribute to the basket auction, all items are due by Feb. 24.
