Intramural basketball season ends; teams enter Commanderís Cup Print E-mail

Teams in Conferences A and B wrapped up the final week of Fort Leonard Wood’s 2017 intramural basketball season with games played Feb. 21 and 22 at Davidson Fitness Center.

It was the perfect end to a perfect regular season for the 43rd Adjutant General Battalion, which defeated the 35th Engineer Battalion, 62-28, to finish with a 7-0 record atop the Conference B standings.

It was the only game played that night: The 55th Mobility Augmentation Company, the 50th Engineer Company and the Navy Detachment all picked up forfeit wins.

The 55th MAC ended the night in second place in the Conference B standings with a record of 6-1. They were followed by the 50th Engr. Co. in third at 5-2.

In Conference A games played Feb. 21, the 3rd Chemical Brigade kept its perfect season intact, beating the 5th Engineer Battalion, 29-25, to finish the season at 7-0.

In other Conference A games:

— The Medical Department Activity beat the U.S. Marine Corps Detachment, 62-59;

— The 14th Military Police Brigade defeated the 554th Engineer Battalion, 57-41;

— The 58th Transportation Battalion picked up a forfeit win.

Following the 3rd Chem. Bde. in the standings were MEDDAC in second place at 5-2, and the 14th MP Bde in third, also at 5-2.

The Commander’s Cup Tournament began with first-round games Tuesday night. Second-round games began Wednesday and are scheduled to continue tonight at 6 and 7 p.m. Semifinals are scheduled at 6 and 7 p.m. Tuesday. The tournament’s third-place game is scheduled at 6 p.m. Wednesday, followed by the championship game at 7 p.m. All games are scheduled to be played on DFC’s Court 4.
