With summer break a little more than two months away, parents are starting to look for ways to keep the kids busy.

Fort Leonard Wood Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation is scheduled to provide numerous activities for Families this summer. Although all dates are not finalized, FMWR staff members want community members to  be aware of what options will be available before filling up calendars.

— May 16, Mini Football Season Begins

— 8:30 p.m., May 19, Movie in the Park, Colyer Park

— May 27, Youth Bowling League, every Saturday for 16 weeks

— June 5 through July 14, Bruce C. Clarke Library Summer Reading Program

— June 3, Registration for Soccer Clinic, Volleyball Clinic, Flag Football Clinic, Soccer and Volleyball begins

— July 18, Soccer Clinic begins

— July 19, Volleyball Clinic begins

— July 20, Flag Football Clinic begins

— Aug. 12, Punt, Pass and Kick event

According to Caitlyn Marler, marketing specialist, School Age Centers are in the process of finalizing summer camps scheduled to begin around May 30.

“Pippin Youth Center will offer these camps: art, drama, water week, culinary, sports fitness, garden week, theme park, Explore Missouri, outdoor adventure and tech week. These camps will all run different weeks from around June 5 to Aug. 7,” Marler said.

The GUIDON will publish event dates when they are finalized. The Waynesville R-VI School District is also scheduled to announce the dates of their summer school programs in coming weeks.
