The Fort Leonard Wood event is scheduled for 10 a.m. April 29 at Sports Complex C.

Hosted by the Fort Leonard Wood Youth Sports and Fitness program, this free event is designed to encourage youth participation in baseball by letting young athletes display their skills.

During the event, participants will be required to throw pitches at a designated “Strike Zone” target, hit from a stationary tee for accuracy and distance, and take part in a timed run from second base to home plate.

Winners will have a chance to advance to a sectional competition and beyond, culminating in the Pitch, Hit and Run National Finals scheduled during the 2017 MLB All-Star Game.

Participants can register for the Fort Leonard Wood Competition online at the Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation website, https://leonardwood.armymwr.com.
