When it comes to protecting your country, you have the heart of a beast, and Fort Leonard Wood Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation wants to help you keep that heart in “Beast Mode.” April 29, Davidson Fitness Center will host an event that is focused on doing just that.

According to Tara Graves, Davidson Fitness Center Fitness coordinator, the Freedom Fitness Expo is designed to promote an active lifestyle for service members and their Families.

“Hibernation season is over, and it’s time to roar.” Graves said. “The Fitness Expo will showcase the classes we have available at Davidson Fitness Center. No matter your fitness level, we have classes that can accommodate everyone.”

The Freedom Fitness Expo will begin at 9 a.m. with Body Pump, followed by a high-intensity interval training circuit, Cardio Blast, Zumba, and finally, a Yoga cool-down session. This no-cost event is open to the public and features an opportunity to sample a few classes available on a regular basis through the FMWR Fitness Program. Patrons are encouraged to register at Davidson Fitness Center to reserve their spot, as limited space is  available.

“We are here to show our support for the military community by providing two free hours of fitness fun,” Graves said.  “Participants are encouraged to exhibit their pride in their respective military branches by wearing their (organizational) colors.”

The FMWR Fitness Program at Fort Leonard Wood is comprised of experienced, integral, quality, health-conscious fitness instructors and personal trainers.

The foundation of the program is to help serve and support the military community: Service members, their Families, veterans and the civilians who work daily, striving to support and improve the quality of lives of the community. The FMWR Sports and Fitness mission is to provide a safe, effective, welcoming environment with positive, fun and functional exercise classes and personal training sessions.

If you are looking for a fun and rewarding career, the Sports and Fitness Department is actively seeking qualified candidates to serve as group fitness instructors and certified personal trainers for both the Davidson Fitness Center and Specker Gym facilities.
