The last day for Waynesville R-VI School District schools is May 26.

The district had originally notified parents that the school year would be extended to May 31 due to missed days during the recent floods that crippled the state.

“We are very excited to report that the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education has granted two days of forgiveness for instructional time lost during the recent flooding,” said Dr. Brian Henry, superintendent. “This will be an early release day as originally planned.”

School officials had earlier stated that it was rare for DESE to grant forgiveness for days lost.

Commencement

Waynesville High School seniors are scheduled to graduate at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Tiger Stadium.

According to Marianne Ward, director of communications and marketing, in the event of inclement weather, the commencement ceremony will be held in the school gymnasium.

Waynesville Career Center Video Production students are scheduled to provide live coverage of the ceremony on Cable America channel 12/digital channel 18-9 and online. The ceremony will also be streamed live in high definition on the Waynesville Channel 12 and the TigerTV Facebook page. www.facebook.com/waynesvillech12.
