“On Golden Pond” is the love story of Ethel and Norman Thayer, who are returning to their summer home on Golden Pond for the 48th year. Norman is a retired professor, nearing 80, with heart palpitations and a failing memory — but still as observant, tart-tongued and eager for life as ever. Ethel delights in all the small things that have enriched and continue to enrich their long life together. They are visited by their daughter, Chelsea, and her dentist fiancé, Bill, who then go off to Europe, leaving Billy, his teenage son, behind for the summer. The boy quickly becomes the “grandchild” the elderly couple have longed for, and as Norman revels in taking his ward fishing and thrusting good books at him, he also learns some lessons about modern teenage awareness — cursing and slang — in return.

The cast stars St. Louis actors John Contini as Norman Thayer, Peggy Billo as Ethel Thayer and Sabra Sellers as Chelsea, with Phoenix Lawson, from Jefferson City, Missouri, as Billy, in addition to Rolla actors Craig Phillips as Charlie the mailman and Kevin Edwards as Bill Ray completing the cast.

Tickets are $22 for adults, $18 for groups and military service members, and $14 for students and may be purchased on www.OzarkActorsTheatre.org, by emailing This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it or calling 573.364.9523, ext. 1.

The OAT summer season continues July 29 with the OAT talent showcase “Follies,” and concludes with the musical covering 50 years of marriage, “I Do! I Do!” scheduled Aug. 3 through 13.
