Air Force softball team takes first in Conference A Print E-mail

The Air Force Detachment 1, 364th Training Squadron finished the 2017 season at the top of the Conference A standings with a record of 8-1, as the season drew to a close Aug 1.

The Air Force Det. was followed in the standings by the U.S. Marine Corps, which took second place with a record of 7-2. The Combat Training Company Team finished in third place with a record of 6-3. The Noncommissioned Officer Academy, 701st Military Police Battalion and Medical Department Activity all ended the season with records of 5-4. Rounding out the standings were the 554th Engineer Battalion at 4-5, the Marine Det. MOTO team at 3-6, the 50th Engineer Company at 2-7 and the 2nd Battalion, 10th Infantry Regiment at 0-9. There were zero forfeits in Conference A this season.

In Conference A games played Aug. 1:

— MEDDAC defeated the 50th Engr. Co., 14-4;

— The 50th Engr. Co. beat the 2-48th Inf. Bn., 17-15;

— The 554th Engr. Bn. defeated CTC, 11-8.

Teams in Conferences A and B returned to the Complex B fields as the 2017 Commander’s Cup Softball Tournament, which began Tuesday evening. The tournament semi-finals are scheduled at 6 and 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 15, with the finals, third-place game and championship set to take place Wednesday, Aug. 16, starting at 6 p.m.



Rec League  scores


Recreation League teams completed the seventh week of their 2017 season July 31. In those games:

— The Hit Squad beat the Monstars, 23-0;

— The Engineer Captains Career Course, the Dental Activity, Not Forgotten and the Army and Air Force Exchange Services all picked up forfeit wins;

— Strictly Business beat the Directorate of Emergency Services, 13-0;

— The Monstars beat Tank Automotive and Armaments Command, 1-0;

— The Hit Squad beat the Marine Det., 13-11.

With two weeks remaining in the Rec League season, the Hit Squad leads the standings with a record of 9-0.
