As the nation prepares to remember the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001,  the Fort Leonard Wood Religious  Support Office is scheduled to  host a Patriot Day Prayer and Remembrance Ceremony from 11:45 a.m. to  noon Monday on the Maneuver Support Center of Excellence and Fort Leonard Wood Plaza steps on the Hoge Hall  Side.

“The purpose is to provide a brief opportunity for Fort Leonard Wood service members and civilians to remember those who have fallen and sacrificed for our nation on and since Sept. 11, 2001,” said Chaplain (Lt. Col.) John Manuel deputy MSCoE garrison chaplain.

The program is scheduled to include a prayer, reading, remarks by the MSCoE garrison chaplain, a moment of silence, and a benediction.

Manuel said it is important for people to take time to remember.

“Martin Luther King Jr. once said ‘We are not makers of history. We are made by history.’ Remembering key events in our national history, like 9/11 is a  crucial part of shaping us into better Soldiers and citizens and hence,  preparing us to build a stronger nation in the future.”

In case of inclement weather, the  program will be held in Lincoln Hall Auditorium.
