The Fort Leonard Wood Religious Support Office is scheduled to launch a new contemporary Christian worship service in January.

The new service, called Crossroads Fort Leonard Wood, will be held at 5 p.m. Sundays beginning Jan. 21 at the Main Post Chapel.

Chaplain (Capt.) Keith Ferrell, 43rd Adjutant General Battalion chaplain and senior pastor, said organizers are searching for volunteers to help with the new service.

“We are actively seeking team members who have talents in singing and playing instruments, or would like to serve in ministry in some aspect,” Ferrell said.

Ferrell said there was also a need for children’s workers and people with performing arts talents.

“This service is designed to meet the contemporary need,” Ferrell said. “The normal Protestant service is more traditional."

“This service will have highly engaging messages that speak to everything we are going through in our daily life. There will be a children’s program, too. We already have a children’s pastor for that,” Ferrell said.

The target audience for  the service is permanent  party Soldiers and their families as well as professional military education. The service is also open to civilians, Ferrell said.

“We are hoping this service meets the needs for those who are already Christian, those who have wrestled with their faith, and even those who doubt faith. It is for everyone regardless of where you are on that spectrum.  It is going to be dynamic and unlike anything we have on post right now.

For more information on the service, Ferrell said there is a Facebook page called CrossroadsFLW or call the RSO at 573.596.2127.
