The Combined Federal Campaign, “Show Some Love,” kicked off Oct. 3 and is scheduled to go through Jan. 12.

The mission of the CFC is to promote and support philanthropy through a program that is employee focused, cost-efficient and effective in providing all federal employees the opportunity to improve the quality of life for all.

Although many have their own reasons why the CFC is important, Brig. Gen. Donna Martin, U.S. Army Military Police School commandant, believes the CFC is a great way for the military to give back to those organizations who have helped our Soldiers and community members in a time of need.

“When I think about the CFC, I am reminded of times when I travel and walk through the airport and people thank me for my service,” Martin said. “I think CFC is another way for us to give back to those charities and organizations who support important causes who require assistance from us.”

Martin explained she looks forward to this time every year so she can give back to those organizations.

“We are all part of the community; we are teachers, coaches, volunteers...etc. All of us serve the community we live in, so I believe this is just an extension of giving back,” Martin said.

Staff Sgt. Bradley Larsen, Combat Training Company Range Cadre instructor, also feels that it is his duty to donate to charities through the CFC.

“I believe we should all give back in some way to those who help others in need,” Larsen said. “Charities give to those during tough times, but we need to remember that they also need help to support their cause.”

All CFC donations will be made through a central giving platform available at opm.gov/ShowSomeLoveCFC. Federal employees and retirees can also donate at one time and in one place each year to multiple charities.
