Registration is in full swing for the Great Spring Cleaning Family, Morale, Welfare and Recreation Yard Sale, scheduled from 8 a.m. to noon April 21 in the Baker Auxiliary parking lot on Iowa Avenue. Advance registration is available for $10 in the Installation Wide Events office in Bldg.1000, Suite 110, through 3 p.m., April 21 (Cash or checks only). Day of event is $15 and tables are available with advance registration for $5 each. Sellers will be allowed to enter for set up at 6:30 a.m., with the sale beginning at 8 a.m. This event is open to the public. “What a great opportunity for individuals resale their usable household items,” said LoraLee Neubeck, special events program specialist “Last year the yard sale hosted 112 sellers and thousands of buyers. A wide-variety of items were available, (including) appliances, electronics, tools, furniture, toys, hunting/fishing equipment and clothing and more. “There are a few restrictions for this sale; this sale is for household items and will not allow commercial vendors or small business owners such as Avon, Scentsy, Tupperware, Home Interiors etc. The sales of weapons, food items and animals/pets will not be permitted. Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers will be on-site selling concessions; coffee, doughnuts, snacks, hot dogs, and cold beverages etc. will be available. All proceeds from the concessions will benefit the BOSS program on Fort Leonard Wood. The Fort Leonard Wood Thrift Shop will be on hand again this year to assist sellers with their donations at the end of the sale. Proceeds from the thrift shop are returned to the Fort Leonard Wood community in the form of scholarships for Family members and grants for non-profit organizations. “Many families that are PCSing out at this time of year will find this a great way to lighten their load before moving. Many families that are new to Fort Leonard Wood will be able to find great deals on items they may need,” Neubeck said. The rain date for this event is April 22, all other information will remain the same. |
