The club, which is open to active-duty service members, their Family members ages 18 and older, and civilians affiliated with Fort Leonard Wood, is holding practices at 6 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays on Soccer Field No. 2 on post.

“We have roster spots available, and anyone who is assigned to Fort Leonard Wood is welcome to come out and play,” said Jeff Cornuet, assistant coach.

FLW United was founded in 2015 by service members to represent Fort Leonard Wood at the annual Defender’s Cup Soccer Tournament at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in San Antonio, Texas.

This year, the club is scheduled to take part in several events, including hosting its own tournament in May and playing in the annual Whiteman Air Force Base tournament in late summer in addition to returning to compete in the Defender’s Cup for a third year.

In addition, players are also being sought for the U.S. team in the annual USA vs. the World Soccer Match, scheduled May 5. Players on the U.S. team must be active-duty service members who are temporarily assigned to Fort Leonard Wood as students. The U.S. team will hold practices in conjunction with the FLW United Soccer Club practices.
