The annual “Christmas on the Square” festival is scheduled from 6 to 9 p.m. tonight at the historic Waynesville Square.

The family-friendly festival, which includes holiday photo opportunities, a live nativity, Christmas carolers, pony rides, holiday vendors, free chili and hot  chocolate, warming stations and more, also kicks off a weekend of events celebrating the holidays in the Fort Leonard Wood Area.

Some of the activities happening this weekend include:

— Journey to Bethlehem
is scheduled from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday at Crocker Christian Church. More than a living nativity, this event features dozens of Biblical characters and live animals, with guided walking tours starting every 20 minutes. Admission is free. For more information, call 573.736.5121 or visit www.crockercc.com.

— The Richland Christmas Parade is scheduled at 11 a.m. Saturday starting at Shady Dell Park. Held by the Richland Chamber of Commerce, the parade will feature a variety of floats, bands, vehicles and other entries. For more information, visit the Richland  municipal website at richlandmo.info.

— Richland’s City of Lights continues with an interactive holiday light show Friday and Saturday evenings, along with a “Village Market” featuring local artists, crafters, holiday photo opportunities and more. The light show continues each night now through Dec. 31. Visit the @cityoflightsrichland page on Facebook for details.

— “Holidays in Hollywood,”
a concert by the 399th Army Band, makes its debut at 1 p.m. Saturday at Baker Theater on Fort Leonard Wood. The show combines live performances of holiday-movie music with a multimedia show, including movie clips, on a large screen behind the band. Admission is free. The band will also perform at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Cowan Civic Center in Lebanon, and at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 15 at the Gillioz Theatre in Springfield, Missouri. For more information, visit the band’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/399tharmyband.

— Performances of “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever”
continue at the Theater on the Square in downtown Waynesville at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. The heartwarming comedy follows a family of delinquent siblings who upend a staid church’s annual pageant. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for children ages 12 and younger, and are available at the door, at  Seda’s Gift Shop in Waynesville, the Pulaski County Tourism Bureau office and St. Robert Family Dental in St. Robert. Future performances are scheduled at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 15 and 16 and at 2:30 p.m. Dec. 17.
