In support of the Armed Services’ Voting Assistance Program, the United States Army has designated the week of Oct. 1 through 8 Absentee Voting Week.
This is a voting emphasis week to encourage all who have received their state absentee ballot to vote the ballot and return it to their state of legal residence.
If an absentee ballot has not yet been requested by filling out a Federal Post Card Application (FPCA), please do so immediately. The Federal Voting Assistance Program website, www.fvap.gov, will have all of the state-specific forms, information, instructions and deadlines. Each unit will have a voting assistance officer available to provide assistance.
If a requested absentee ballot has not been received and it is within 30 days of the election, it is recommended to complete a Federal Write-In Absentee Ballot (FWAB). If the absentee ballot is received after sending in the FWAB, go ahead and vote the ballot and return it, and it will replace the FWAB.
The Fort Leonard Wood Installation Voting Assistance Office is available to provide assistance and guidance. There are computers available, and hard copies of forms for requesting absentee ballots and also registering locally. The office is located in Dillard Hall, Building 470, Suite 2226. The phone number is 573.596.0741. The General Election is Nov. 6.
