The Ozark Actors Theatre production of William Shakespeare’s “As You Like It” opens at 7:30 p.m. tonight and will run Thursdays through Sundays now through Aug. 12 at the Cedar Street Playhouse in Rolla.
This version of the classic play features music from the 1960s in a production developed by director Jenny Male. It is the final production of OAT’s “Season of Strong Women” summer series.
OAT is one of only three professional summer stock theatres in the state of Missouri outside of St. Louis and Kansas City, and combines the talents of professional actors from across the country with a range of local talent to produce a variety of shows each year.
In “As You Like It,” Katharine Nedder will take on the role of Rosalind. Nedder comes to Ozark Actors Theatre from New York City, where she is an artistic associate of the new theater company Something from a Broad.
Nedder has performed on stages throughout New York, including in the off-off Broadway world premier of “When Johnny Comes Marching Home,” which was written and directed by A.S. Freeman, OAT artistic director.
“The cast, technical crew, and design teams that we have assembled are out of this world,” Freeman said.
Male developed the concept behind the OAT production. An accomplished director with a national reputation, Male is an associate professor of Theatre at Howard Community College in Columbia, Maryland. She is a certified teacher with the Society of American Fight Directors and serves as Resident Fight Director for Rep Stage.
Performances of the OAT production of “As You Like It” are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Thursdays and Saturdays, at 2 p.m. and again at 7:30 p.m. on Fridays and at 2 p.m. on Sundays.
