Each year, on the Friday before Mother’s Day, we celebrate Military Spouse Appreciation Day — a time when we pause to recognize the husbands and wives of our service members for their loyalty and unwavering commitment to America.
Military spouses have been the strength behind our force since before the birth of our great nation. This year we honor their tremendous courage, as well as their profound impact on our resiliency and well-being. Without their support, our readiness would be severely degraded.
Spouses are the spirit of military families and the face of home. They help to positively influence communities, reassure loved ones and raise dependents while service members are away. They invest a significant amount of time and energy balancing the challenges of military life.
Spouses serve too, and we salute their resolve and sacrifice.
On Fort Leonard Wood, taking care of our families is always a priority. Please join us in standing beside our silent heroes who do so much to place the needs of their Soldiers, Marines, Sailors, Airmen and Coast Guardsmen above their own. Remember to thank them for all they do, each and every day, to support us.
Victory starts here…victory through skill.
(Editor’s note: Savre is the Maneuver Support Center of Excellence and Fort Leonard Wood commanding general. Stanley is the MSCoE and Fort Leonard Wood command sergeant major.)
