The final night of the Commander’s Cup Softball Tournament was postponed due to inclement weather Aug. 23 at Sports Complex B.
The tournament’s semi-final, third-place game and championship game, along with a trophy presentation to the Rec-League-winning Not Forgotten team, were rescheduled for Wednesday night. See the Sept. 6 edition of the GUIDON for coverage.
Combat Training Company will play for the championship against the winner of the 94th Engineer Battalion/ 14th Military Police Brigade semifinal.
CTC advanced to the championship after defeating the 2nd Battalion, 10th Infantry Regiment, 13-3, in the first round Aug. 21, then taking out the top-seeded Marine Corps Detachment, 14-4 Aug. 22 in the quarterfinals before earning a 22-8 win over the 31st Engineer Battalion in its semi-final.
In other first-round games Aug. 21:
— The 31st Engr. Bn. defeated the Maneuver Support Center of Excellence, 12-9;
— The 94th Engr. Bn. beat the Office of the Staff Judge Advocate, 20-0;
— The 58th Transportation Battalion defeated the Medical Department Activity, 14-4;
— The 252nd/180th Military Police Detachment beat Company B, 554th Engr. Bn., 15-2;
— The Company A, 554th Engineer Battalion and 14th MP Bde. picked up forfeit wins.
In other quarterfinal games played Aug. 22:
— The 31st Engr. Bn. beat the Co. A, 554th Engr. Bn. team, 10-8;
— The 94th Engr. Bn. defeated the 58th Trans. Bn., 9-7;
— The 14th MP Bde. beat the 252nd/180th MP Det., 14-6.
