Area runners have several 5Ks and other upcoming events to choose from, starting this weekend with the Historic Route 66 5k in Lebanon.
The run starts at 9 a.m. at the Mills Center, located next to the Cowan Civic Center at 500 East Elm Street in Lebanon, and will follow the paved running trail surrounding the civic center grounds.
Runners can pre-register for the 5K for $20. Same-day registration is $25 and begins at 7:30 a.m. at the Mills Center. Participants receive a long-sleeved T-shirt. Registration can be completed at ozarkracingsystems.com.
The 5K is being held in conjunction with the “Guts-Glory RAM BBQ Throwdown” festival at the Laclede County Fairgrounds. Events there include hot-air balloon rides from 8 to 1 a.m., a cornhole tournament at 11 a.m., live music by Isaac Kenneth from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and barbecue tasting at 11 a.m.

— The Frog Fitness Group Free Donut Run 5K is scheduled from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday starting at Walker Real Estate, 854 Missouri Avenue. The weekend’s events are just a few of the running activities happening in mid-Missouri this fall. Other scheduled races include:
— The FroGLOW Glow Run 5K is slated for 6 p.m. Oct. 26 at Waynesville City Park. This nighttime run features plenty of glow sticks and other glowing apparel. Advance registration is $20 per person now through Oct. 25.

— The Bonehead 5K and 10K take place at 8 a.m. Oct. 27 starting at the Public House Brewing Company in Rolla. Prizes are awarded to the top three male and female finishers in six age groups, as well as the top three teams. Teams must have a minimum of three runners. — The 5Kross Country Run and walk is set to begin at 8 a.m. Nov. 3 at the Rolla Lions Club Pavilion 1, located on Hwy. 63 South in Rolla. This Halloween-themed run is held by the Missouri University of Science and Technology Tau Kappa Epsilon chapter and campus police. Registration is $25 and includes a T-shirt and souvenir. — The Turkey Trot 5K/10K begins at 9 a.m. Nov. 10, starting at Davidson Fitness Center on Fort Leonard Wood. Turkeys will be awarded to the overall male and female winner and to the winners from six age groups. Advance registration is $15 now through Nov. 7 and includes a T-shirt. — The Heroes Marathon from Salem to Rolla includes a 5K, half marathon and full marathon, along with a marathon relay Nov. 17. The 5K starts at 8 a.m. at Lions Club Park in Rolla. Online advance registration is $25 and includes a T-shirt. Registration fees are $50 per runner for the half-marathon, $75 per runner for the full marathon or $120 for a team of four for the marathon relay. Fees increase after Nov. 5.
