July 17 is Movie Night on Fort Leonard Wood, with a free showing of the 2019 animated feature “Spies in Disguise” set to begin at 8:30 p.m. at the Baker Theater Auxiliary Parking Lot.
Members of the Fort Leonard Wood community are invited to bring their lawn chairs, camping chairs or blankets and set up in the parking lot for the outdoor viewing, which is hosted by Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation. FMWR officials emphasize the event is not a drive-in movie, and that parking will be available in lots surrounding the venue.
“Vehicles will not be allowed to enter the event site,” explained LoraLee Neubeck with the FMWR Installation Wide Events Office. “Parking is available on Iowa Avenue, in the Baker Theater (lot), at the Rec Plex and Post Chapel parking lots.”
FMWR has shown free outdoor movies at various times for the past decade. The only key difference for this event will be required social distancing, according to Neubeck.
“A few changes have been made to the layout to allow for proper distancing,” she said. “If social distancing cannot be maintained, (mask-wearing) would be required.”
No registration is necessary.
Concessions will be available for purchase from the Better Opportunities for Single Service Members organization during the event. Attendees will also be allowed to bring their own snacks and coolers to the venue.
The PG-rated “Spies in Disguise” features the voice talents of Will Smith and Tom Holland. The film tells the story of a world-class super-spy who, after being transformed into a pigeon, must turn to his nerdy tech colleague for help.
Pets are not allowed at the event.
