Waynesville High School’s Tracy Gates finished his high-school career with a fifth-place finish in the triple jump in Class 5 at the Missouri State High School Track and Field Championships, held May 25 and 26 in Jefferson City, Missouri.
It was a return trip to the Class 5 championships for Gates, who competed at the state level last year. This year, Gates medaled with a jump of 45 feet, 5.5 inches. His best jump of the 2018 season was 46-4.0.
Gates was the lone medalist among four state qualifiers for Waynesville who competed at the meet.
Among those participants:
— Tahje Parrish finished 14th in the triple jump;
— Darrin Roy placed 15th in the 200-meter run;
— Tim Brech placed 15th in the javelin.
