Beginning May 30, ENT (Otolaryngology) and Ophthalmology services at General Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital will transition to the TRICARE network.
This change in available services is part of U.S. Army Medical Command’s effort to maintain the readiness and combat-related surgical skills of medical personnel.
Any currently scheduled appointments and follow-ups will be seen with their current provider until the end of June. All new ENT or Ophthalmology patients will be referred out to the network.
Audiology services will continue and service members, retirees and their dependents are eligible for comprehensive hearing evaluations without a referral.
An audiologist’s recommendation is still needed for those service members needing hearing aid services. Dependents with qualifying hearing loss will be referred to the TRICARE network for hearing aid services.
Retirees can purchase hearing aids at government cost through the Retiree at Cost Hearing Aid Program if they live within a 75-mile radius of GLWACH. RACHAP is a voluntary program for retirees only; this service isn’t available for their dependents. Neither TRICARE nor Medicare cover hearing-aid services for retirees or dependents.
The Audiology Clinic is located within the EENT department on the first floor. For more information about audiology services, call 573.596.0048.
