Renee Cox, Logistics Readiness Center clothing issue supervisor, has been instrumental in implementing a multitude of changes required to support incoming recruits and adapt to 2+8 implementation, an adjustment required to win on the COVID-19 battlefield. Renee and her team have ensured that recruits are provided basic clothing and related clothing bag items upon arrival before being placed into controlled monitoring or isolation. Her rapid actions and care for America’s sons and daughters have enabled safe, successful entry to the controlled, monitored training environment. We appreciate Cox’s leadership, which has been crucial to her team’s success and to our mission.
Capt. Mandi Shaughnessy-Ford is the epitome of a hero. In her first assignment as a judge advocate – arriving to the Maneuver Support Center of Excellence and Fort Leonard Wood Office of the Staff Judge Advocate in January – Shaughnessy-Ford’s enthusiasm for the JAG Corps and motivation to help the team made her an easy selection to be officer in charge for this year’s Law Day activities here. Shaughnessy-Ford oversaw the execution of every detail of Law Day to include researching and preparing the Law Day proclamation for my signature, publication of Law Day information on the installation’s Facebook page, and the coordination and supervision of this year’s mock trial. Of note, Shaughnessy-Ford’s tireless efforts in organizing this year’s mock trial was exceptional. Because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, large gatherings of people are currently not authorized for health and safety reasons. With Thayer Elementary school closing early this year and students unable to observe the mock trial in person like they did last year during Law Day, Shaughnessy-Ford implemented a plan to videotape the mock trial so students could observe the event from home. The mock trial was executed perfectly and the video has already been viewed more than 10,000 times. Shaughnessy-Ford’s efforts directly benefitted the entire Fort Leonard Wood community and she is clearly a future superstar in the JAG Corps and will continue to do great things for the Army.
