With our G-3 and garrison teams stretched extremely thin, we called upon several recent engineer students/recent graduates to step in and assist with our barracks-capacity analysis in support of our efforts in prevention of and response to COVID-19. These junior leaders were a joy to work with and brought not only impressive technical expertise but fresh energy to our team. Each of them is worthy of recognition for their awesome support to house and keep our people safe while we train the load. Capt. Matthew Riggs and 1st Lt. Thomas Hoyt led their teammates – 2nd Lt. Clayton Carter, Capt. Sean Crain and 2nd Lt. Evan Terkanian – in some phenomenal work.
Don Rose, the acting Directorate of Emergency Services director, is doing a superb job in our day-to-day security mission while also doing a fantastic job in a very fluid environment, implementing changes across post to address and implement Health Protection Condition Charlie measures in support of our efforts to prevent and respond to COVID-19. I continue to receive positive feedback about the selfless service and heroic efforts of our DES team, including all of our officers and gate guards. Rose is also responsible for the flashing marquee outside the hospital that reads ‘THANK YOU HEALTHCARE EMPLOYEES!!’ Rose will no doubt pass this forward and give his workforce all the credit, but his superb leadership, responsiveness, and excellent teamwork is worthy of recognition.
