The Outdoor Adventure Center and Natural Resources Branch of Fort Leonard Wood, along with the U.S. Forest Service and the Missouri Department of Conservation announced they will hold the annual Kid’s Trout Fishing Derby from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 23 at the Stone Mill Spring Recreation Area.
The event is open to participants ages 15 and younger. Anglers can fish for nearly 1,000 rainbow trout, including specially-marked trout that they can turn in for prizes.
Participants must bring their own fishing poles, tackle and bait.
The event is free, and no pre-registration is required.
Parking will be allowed along the shoulders of Route 26 toward Piney Valley Golf Course. The OAC will provide shuttle service to and from the parking area and Stone Mill Spring between 9 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
