Appreciation Night June 1 in Springfield
The 14th annual Springfield Cardinals Military Appreciation Night is scheduled for June 1 at Hammons Field in Springfield, Missouri. Now military personnel and their dependents can get free tickets to the game, which is presented by Infuze Credit Union.
Free tickets are available for all active-duty service members, retirees, veterans, National Guard Soldiers, Reservists and their dependents. Tickets may be picked up from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays at the Infuze Credit Union located on post at 5000 Illinois Ave., Bldg. 494. A voucher for a free hot dog and Cardinals baseball hat will accompany each ticket. A military ID must be presented at the time of pick-up.
Gates will open at 5:10 p..m. with pre-game activities starting at 5:30 p.m. and the game time at 6:10 p.m.
Fort Leonard Wood personnel will be featured throughout the event, but especially during pre-game events, which will include an Oath of Enlistment on the third-base line, ceremonial first pitches by senior leaders, a parade onto the infield by 80 service members representing Fort Leonard Wood’s U.S. Army Engineer School, U.S. Army Military Police School, U.S. Army Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear School; the U.S. Navy Detachment, the U.S. Marine Corps Detachment and the U.S. Air Force 368th Training Squadron, the performance of the national anthem by the 399th Army Band and presentation of colors by the Joint Services Color Guard.
The Springfield Cardinals, which is the Double A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals, will face the visiting Northwest Arkansas Naturals. Based in Springdale, Arkansas, Naturals are the Double A affiliate of the Kansas City Royals.
Hammons Field is located at 955 East Trafficway in Springfield.

Parking fees increase
As reported by the Springfield News-Leader and other publications, parking fees at lots surrounding the ballpark have increased from around $10 in previous seasons to $20 per vehicle this season, including the south lot of the stadium between Trafficway and St. Louis Street and the parking garage southwest of the stadium near the Expo Center.
