Military Spouses are an integral part of the Army family and we want to provide them with every opportunity to see what employment opportunities are available to and for them both on post and outside the installation.
The Soldier For Life Transition Assistance Program National Transition Summit is scheduled April 26 and 27 at the Pershing Community Center and at Nutter Field House.
The purpose of the summit is to provide employers the opportunity to meet with spouses and transitioning military who offer a diverse range of educational backgrounds, experiences, qualifications and skill sets that will contribute to business success.
More than 80 employers, from different parts of the country, are expected to be present at the summit, in addition to many local Pulaski/Phelps County employers. Local employers who plan on participating include: Phelps County Regional Medical Center, Army and Air Force Exchange Service, Walmart, Civilian Personnel Advisory Center, Non-Appropriated Funds Personnel Office, Columbia College, the Missouri Office of Administration, and the Missouri University of Science and Technology.
There will also be various employer forums and panel discussions covering different employment areas within the public and private sectors.
The SFL-TAP team is making a concentrated effort to ensure employers who participate have viable and current vacancies for which all applicants, including military spouses can apply.
Applicants are encouraged to bring an ample supply of professional resumes with them, be dressed for success, and be prepared to interview with employers.
The Army Community Service Employment Readiness office can assist with resume drafting, cover-letter preparation, interviewing skills and other job seeking tools to assist military spouses with successfully seeking and finding employment.
Our spouses are an important part of our Army Family and we want to provide them every opportunity to successfully gain employment in our local area. Attending the SFL-TAP National Transition Summit is a step toward them eventually achieving that goal.
