The Missouri State Museum will present the program “Memorial, Memory and the Missouri State Museum” as part of its ongoing Museum After Hours series at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Sponsored by Missouri State Parks, the program will move to the Jefferson Landing State Historic Site for 2019.
The Missouri General Assembly established the “Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Memorial Hall” in the Missouri State Capitol May 6, 1919, with the purpose of displaying flags, relics and records of Missouri’s Soldiers, Sailors and Marines. Within four years, the expanding museum became the Missouri State Museum.
