Special to GUIDON
This week is Teacher Appreciation Week and it is an opportunity to honor our Nation’s professional educators for their positive impact on the lives of our children, families and communities far beyond the boundaries of the classroom.
Although Mattye Woodridge and Eleanor Roosevelt first inspired the idea in 1953, the Parent Teacher Association officially established Teacher Appreciation Week in 1985.
Today, whether it’s a gift, a heartfelt note, or even a hand shake, former and current students should take time to say “thank you” in their own special way.
On Fort Leonard Wood, we are dedicated to supporting teachers and school administrators in our community.
We encourage each member of our team to foster relationships with the boards of education, administrators, staff, volunteers and educators who selflessly give their time and talents to support our children and their growth in academia and in life.
Teachers are critical members of our team of teams.
We appreciate the unwavering support of the Waynesville R-VI school district and all other area school districts in going above and beyond to place our children first and to lead the way, every day in the pursuit of excellence.
Thank you for all you do to make this a great place to live, learn and work. We are proud to serve with you.
Victory starts here…victory through skill.
(Editor’s note: Martin is the Maneuver Support Center of Excellence and Fort Leonard Wood commanding general. Breckinridge is the MSCoE and Fort Leonard Wood command sergeant major.)
