Special to GUIDON
Each year, on the Friday before Mother’s Day, we celebrate Military Spouse Appreciation Day — a time to pause and recognize the husbands and wives of our service members for their strength, loyalty and unwavering commitment to America.
Military spouses have been the strength behind our force since before the birth of our great Nation.
On Friday, we honor their tremendous courage, as well as their profound impact on our resiliency and well-being.
Support from our spouses and families directly contributes to our readiness.
Spouses are the spirit and strength of military families, the face of home, and the “force behind the force.”
They help to positively influence communities; reassure loved ones; and raise children while Service Members are away. They invest a significant amount of time and energy, balancing the challenges of military life.
Spouses serve too, and we salute their resolve and sacrifice.
On Fort Leonard Wood, taking care of our families is always a priority.
Please join us in standing beside our quiet heroes who do so much to place the needs of their Soldiers, Marines, Sailors, Airmen and Coast Guardsmen above their own. Remember to thank them for all they do, each and every day, in support of us.
Victory starts here…victory through skill.
(Editor’s note: Martin is the Maneuver Support Center of Excellence and Fort Leonard Wood commanding general. Breckinridge is the MSCoE and Fort Leonard Wood command sergeant major.)
