Special to GUIDON
This week, Waynesville R-VI and surrounding school districts will begin the 2019-2020 school year. We want to thank the school boards, administrators, faculty, staff, parents and students in our region for their lasting commitment to our nation’s future.
At Fort Leonard Wood, we are proud to celebrate the partnership between our local district, our service Members and our families. Seventy-six percent of the approximately 6,000 students enrolled in the district are military impacted. Fort Leonard Wood and Waynesville R-VI are a team.
Mission success depends on active cooperation between parents, children, teachers and the chain of command. As the new school year advances, I encourage family members to continue leading and investing time in your children and their studies.
There are many resources to meet your family’s needs. If you have questions about possible barriers to academic success stemming from the military lifestyle, the School Liaison Officer, located in building 470, is here to assist you.
Safety is important. Drivers must be cautious in school zones, playgrounds, parks, and residential areas. Our Military Police will also help enforce safety in school zones, especially as children are crossing. Teach your children to buckle their seatbelts and cross the road properly, especially when getting on and off the school bus. Staying engaged prevents injury.
The Army is so proud of all you do to secure our nation’s future.
Have fun, be safe, and make this a wonderful school year!
Victory Starts Here…Victory Through Skill!
