As we observe the training holiday Friday. Whether you intend to travel or stay local over the long weekend, remember to have a plan.
Check forecasts for unexpected weather as temperatures become warmer, such as thunderstorms, strong winds and tornadoes. Continue to conduct regular vehicle maintenance and inspections, and have an emergency kit close by. Maintain a high level of situational awareness while driving, and always wear a seat belt. If you plan to operate a motorcycle, you must successfully complete the training requirements outlined in AR 385-10. Finally, never drink and drive.
On Fort Leonard Wood, we appreciate the efforts of our leaders in doing all they reasonably can to prevent mishaps. Whether they plan to spend time boating or hiking in the heart of America, continue to encourage your team to use good judgment, identify high-risk service members and provide them with special accident prevention counseling. Statistics clearly illustrate that heightened safety awareness and consciousness reduce risks.
Each Soldier, Marine, Sailor, Airman and government civilian is vital to our readiness and mission on Fort Leonard Wood. We appreciate your aggressive support in ensuring the success of our important safety incentive program and look forward to your continued support for accident prevention. Enjoy the well-deserved training holiday while keeping each member of our “Team of Teams” safe.
We are proud to serve with you. Victory starts here, victory through skill.
