By Maj. Gen. Donna Martin and Command Sgt. Maj. James Breckinridge
May is designated as Military Appreciation Month. We use this observance to honor those who serve or have served for the sacrifices and hardships they have borne on behalf of a grateful nation. Your patriotic service ensures our continued freedom and the American way of life.
This month, we encourage you to take the time to reflect upon and to celebrate the service of family members, friends and neighbors who have served our nation. Military Spouse Appreciation Day ensures military spouses receive the unwavering support and gratitude they deserve; Victory in Europe Day recognizes the end of World War II in Europe; Armed Forces Day pays tribute to all who have served; and Memorial Day pays tribute to all who have given their lives in service to our nation.
For 245 years, our nation has counted on the best, most professional, battle-tested military force the world has ever seen – to liberate her citizens from tyranny, to free the oppressed and to protect the beleaguered.
We are grateful for the families, civilians and communities who support our Soldiers, Marine, Sailors and Airmen and make our service possible.
We thank each of the military members, spouses and children at Fort Leonard Wood who have answered the nation’s call to serve, here in the heart of America.
We are proud to serve with you!
Victory Starts Here…Victory Through Skill!
