In a news release Jan. 2, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that no one died from traffic incidents on Missouri state highways during New Year’s celebrations.
From 6 p.m. Dec. 31 through 11:59 p.m. Jan. 1, there were 72 crashes, 34 injuries, and 56 citations for driving while intoxicated but zero fatalities, the patrol reported.
Last year, there were 11 deaths.
MSHP reminds drivers that weather in Missouri can change quickly.
Here are some tips from MSHP for safe driving:
— Be ready to adjust your speed appropriately for constantly changing driving conditions.
— If you need glasses, wear them.
— Keep your car windows clean, inside and out.
— Never ride with someone who has been drinking.
— Always drive on good, properly inflated tires.
