Fort Leonard Wood’s National Prayer Breakfast is scheduled from 6:30 to 8 a.m. April 24 at Pershing Community Center.
“This event is designed to provide an ecumenical opportunity to offer thanks for God’s blessing on our nation, to pray for our nation, and to nurture the spiritual fitness of the installation, said Chaplain (Capt.) Tony Cech, event organizer.
The keynote speaker is R.L. “Van” Van Antwerp, a retired officer and past Maneuver Support Center of Excellence and Fort Leonard Wood commanding general.
Tickets are available for a suggested donation of $5 and may be obtained by contacting unit executive assistants, unit ministry team or the Fort Leonard Wood Religious Support Office.
The National Prayer Breakfast is a tradition dating back to 1953.
“Once a year, many of the nation’s leaders gather to contemplate God’s blessing on our nation and offer prayers for continuous protection and blessing and to affirm the significance of religious faith and religious freedom in our nation,” Cech said.
