The Pulaski Fine Arts Association has announced that the show must go on — but a little later than originally planned.
While the first week of June usually sees a new production taking the stage at the Theater on the Square, officials with the local community theater group have pushed back its summer performance dates and made other adjustments to its show calendar due to the impact of COVID-19.
In a post on its Facebook page Friday, the group announced the changes listed below. Showtimes are set for 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 2:30 p.m. Sundays. All performances and auditions will be held at the Theater on the Square in downtown Waynesville. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 12 and younger and can be purchased by calling 573.528.4164 or ordered online at www.pfaa-tots.com.
— “Always a Bridesmaid” performances are scheduled for July 10 through 12, and July 17 through 19. Described as “a comedic romp,” this play tells the story of four friends who have sworn to keep a promise made on prom night to be in each other’s weddings. Thirty years later, they still repeatedly struggle to stage the perfect wedding, resulting in a variety of mishaps.
— Auditions for “Something Wicked This Way Comes” are scheduled for 7 p.m. July 27 and 28, with parts available for male and female actors ages 12 and older. In this dark tale from horror writer Ray Bradbury, a mysterious carnival show rolls into a small town. While two young boys try to learn the secrets of the carnival, their friends and neighbors begin to disappear after being lured into the show tents by the carnival’s ringleader, who promises to fulfill their wildest dreams. Performance dates are scheduled for Sept. 25 through 27 and Oct. 2 through 4.
— Auditions for “A Laura Ingalls Wilder Christmas” will take place at 7 p.m. Oct. 5 and 6. Written by Laurie Brooks, this comedy/drama covers the only two years Laura Ingalls Wilder chose not to write about in her books: a desperate winter when the family’s crops were destroyed by locusts and the family devastated by the death of her baby brother, Freddie. Performance dates are scheduled for Dec. 11 through 13, and Dec. 18 through 20.
