Nearly 550 Waynesville R-VI students in grades 4, 5 and 6 participated in the 15th annual Stampede in the Park Elementary Cross Country Meet, held Oct. 18 at Waynesville City Park.
To qualify for the meet, students had to meet national qualifying times in the 1-mile run at their individual schools.
Sixth-grader Brody Clemons was the fastest runner overall, completing the course in 6 minutes, 7 seconds.
Rylee Maness was the fasted female runner from the Waynesville Sixth Grade Center, completing the race in 6:51.
Among fifth-grade males, Amari Simmonds from the East Elementary Green Team, finished in first place with a time of 6:42.
Among fifth-grade females, Dejah Wilson, from Partridge Elementary, took first, completing the course in 6:59.
In the fourth-grade race, Tucker Schwess, from Wood Elementary, was the fastest male runner, taking first place in 6:55. Lana Carly, from the East Elementary Green Team, was first among fourth-grade female runners, finishing the course in 7:02.
