The Missouri Department of Revenue has announced REAL-ID-Act-compliant driver’s licenses and IDs are now available to Missouri drivers. The new compliant licenses and cards feature a gold star in the upper right hand corner.
The DOR is anticipating an estimated processing time of 10 to 15 days once the compliant cards become available and has stated that the cost will remain the same for compliant and non-compliant licenses and cards. Residents may apply for their new license or card no earlier than six months prior to the expiration date on their current card.
For those wanting to get a compliant license or card before their renewal period may do so by paying a processing fee of $2.50 for a three-year, and $5 for a six-year issuance. Per Missouri state law, there will be a one-time waiver of the duplicate transaction fee for those upgrading to a compliant license or card.
Current driver’s licenses and identification cards issued by the state of Missouri are not compliant with the REAL ID Act passed in 2005. The state has received an extension which is set to expire Aug. 1, 2019.
To access Fort Leonard Wood, visitors need to have either a DoD-issued ID card or a REAL ID compliant driver’s license.
