For many people, the depths of winter is a time to dress in layers and stay indoors. For others, it’s time to hit the water — and the perfect time to enter Fort Leonard Wood’s annual “Bold in the Cold” event.
Registration is now open for the Bold in the Cold event, which will be held at 10 a.m. Feb. 22 at the lake at Training Area 250 by the post’s Better Opportunities for Single Service Members Program.
The event invites participants to dress in costume, take a dip in the lake and compete for a variety of awards.
“We’ve got several awards we’ll be giving out,” said Spc. Calimar Torres, BOSS president. “We’ll have awards for ‘Best Team Theme,’ ‘Best Couple,’ and the ‘Individual with the Most Moxie.’ Basically, we’re rewarding the best, creative entries. It’s a lot like the Cardboard Regatta in that sense — (the participants) put their finesse on it, they throw themselves in the water, and we have different categories that give them a chance to win.”
The event is open to the public and open to all ages.
Entry is free, but registration is required and is open until the day of the event.
Registration can be completed from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and from noon to 3 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays at BOSS Corner, located in Bldg. 496 at the corner of Constitution and Replacement avenues. Registration can also be completed in person at Davidson Fitness Center or online at https:// leonardwood.armymwr.com. For more information, visit the event entry on the website or call 573.855.8788.
