By Chaplain (Capt.) Hyuntae Kim
Special to GUIDON
I would like to express my gratitude for the ability to serve our country with honor and dignity.
We know that the lord has trained each one of us adequately to serve this great nation of ours.
Working alone brings minimal success, but working as a team brings gigantic results.
I would like to expound on a biblical character, Moses, who faced a great challenge in the pursuit of success for his nation.
He accomplished his God-ordained task by obeying God and forming a team that supported the cause. In the Old Testament the Book of Deuteronomy 1:9-17, is a stand-alone book on leadership.
God wanted to use Moses to lead the people of Israel out of slavery.
God knew that Moses could not accomplish it alone, but rather, he needed a team to reduce his burdens.
Under the tutelage of his father-in-law, Jethro, they assembled a team to settle the disputes among the Israelites.
Today, Soldiers and families often times try to carry their problems alone, but they realize they cannot.
Your Unit Ministry Team, which consists of a chaplain and a Religious Affairs specialist, are here for you. They are here to help and support you.
Soldiers, you are not alone.
UMTs, like Moses and Jethro, can help carry your burdens. The chaplain and Religious Affairs specialist duo are a team that can guide you in overcoming your struggles.
The UMT is a combat multiplier for Soldiers, families and units, helping them to accomplish their spiritual mission and to give the utmost of their abilities for God and country.
