The Bruce C. Clarke Library “Reading Takes You Everywhere!” Summer Reading Program will end July 16. Readers have until Aug. 1 to pick up their reading incentives (while supplies last).
Readers can still signup at https://brucecclarke.beanstack.org/reader365 to log minutes that have been read or listened to.
The various program levels are pre-readers, children, teens and adults. It’s especially important for school-age children to “build a bridge” over the summer months — those who read a minimum of six books (or at least 15 minutes a day) score higher in reading and math when they return to school.
The grand prizes will be randomly drawn online after the end of the program and winners will be contacted. Summer readers have to read and log enough minutes to complete all badges for their age to be included in the final drawing.
The overall program is online, meaning readers can participate anytime and anywhere.
The Department of Defense/ Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation Libraries provided the online program and most of the reading incentives.

All children must be accompanied by a parent, guardian or adult caregiver.
Weekly themed programs during regular Storytimes are 10:30 a.m. Tuesdays and 12:30 p.m. Wednesdays. Reading Takes You Everywhere: India is scheduled from 2 to 3:30 p.m. today. Maximum Movie Mondays for summer reading are 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday, July 16, 23 and 30.
Our Favorite Wizard’s Birthday Bash
Join us from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 29 as we celebrate the end-of-summer and a special birthday. That’s right, our favorite wizard is turning 38 this year. In his honor, Bruce C. Clarke Library will be hosting its second House Cup Tournament.
The house with the most points by the end of the afternoon will win prizes. To participate, visit the library and take the sorting hat quiz to discover your house and start earning points. Houses will earn five points for every member that joins that house and five points for every member who RSVPs by July 22 at the front desk. Make sure to get your invitation soon because the House Cup Tournament is by invitation only.
Other ways to earn points for your house before the event are to attend our Wizard Movie Series and participate in that day’s activity. Every day of the series, members will get five points for attending the movie and five points for completing the activity. The Wizard Movie Series begins on July 16 and runs through July 26, Mondays through Thursdays. All movies will be shown at 3 p.m. in the Community Room.
Finally, the best way to earn points is to attend the Birthday Bash. Players will earn points playing board games and by playing Wizard Jeopardy. We will also be hosting a costume contest. The winner of the costume contest will receive a special prize, plus 50 points for their house. For more information, ask a staff member.
