Fort Leonard Wood’s intramural bowling season ended early, with the top six teams moving on to the Commander’s Cup Tournament, which will be played tonight at Daugherty Bowling Center.
In an email Friday, Coleman Swinton, Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation chief of sports, informed players that the season had ended sooner than expected, and that enough games had been played in each conference to determine the top three teams.
“The season ended sooner than we expected,” Swinton said. “The format was changed to follow suit with the rest of the sports program. … The teams in each conference played a round-robin, thus making the season shorter, but it made each conference more competitive.”
The tournament is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. with the Conference A champion 14th Military Police Brigade facing the Conference B champion 102nd Training Division for the tournament’s first-place trophy. The 252nd Military Police Detachment, which placed second in Conference A, and the Medical Department Activity, which placed second in Conference B, will play for third place in the tournament, while the third-place finishers in Conferences A and B, the 43rd Adjutant General Battalion and the 84th Chemical Battalion, respectively, will vie for fifth place.
Other teams that completed the season will be able to participate in free open bowling. The open bowling is limited to four bowlers per team, and bowlers must have their names on the team roster that the Sports Department has on file.
